Secretary of State for Euro-Atlantic Bilateral and Strategic Affairs with the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) George Ciamba had a meeting on Wednesday with Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy Thomas Goffus, the talks focusing on the current security situation and the priorities of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and the United States, a press release of MAE sent to AGERPRES informs.
Moreover, the developments with regard to regional security have been reviewed. The Romanian dignitary highlighted the strategic importance of the Black Sea region for the Euro-Atlantic security as a whole and pointed out, within the context, the importance of the allied solidarity and of a strong Trans-Atlantic connection, reads the quoted source.
MAE specifies that talks also tackled issues on NATO's agenda, in view of July's summit.
George Ciamba underscored the need to consolidate the deterrence and defence posture, including on the eastern flank and in the Black Sea region, emphasizing the need to fully and coherently implement the decisions adopted by the NATO Summit in Warsaw.
The Secretary of State also mentioned the need to continue to provide active support for partner states, in accordance to their specific needs and interests.
Romania will continue to act as a responsible ally, actively contributing to the promotion of security within the Euro-Atlantic area and outside it, Ciamba underscored.
According to MAE, the American official expressed the United States' special appreciation towards Romania's efforts in line with the commitments for defence and especially for the valuable contributions of our country in the theatres of operations, indicating that the sacrifice of the Romanian servicemen is duly acknowledged.
