The pairs Victor Cornea/Andrea Pellegrino and Alexandru Jecan/Bogdan Pavel qualified, on Wednesday, for the quarterfinals of the doubles event at the Lisbon tennis challenger tournament, which has total prizes of 145,250 euros.
Cornea and the Italian won 6-4, 6-7 (5/7), 11-9 against 3rd seeded Alexander Merino (Peru)/Christoph Negritu (Germany).
In the super tiebreak, the Romanian-Italian pair was led 5-1 and 8-4, but won five points in a row, achieving the victory 11-9.
The Romanian pair Jecan and Pavel defeated the Italians Marco Cecchinato/Stefano Travaglia, 6-3, 6-2.
The winning pairs each secured 1,470 euros and 20 ATP points in doubles.
In the quarterfinals, Cornea and his partner will face the Spanish pair Mario Mansilla Diez/Bruno Pujol Navarro, and Jecan and Pavel will meet the pair Denis Molcianov (Ukraine)/Michael Vrbensky (Czech Republic).
