Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse has reach the main draw of the singles event at the WTA 1,000 tournament in Doha (Qatar), a tournament with total prizes amounting to 3,664,963 US dollars, after defeating Australian Daria Saville 6-3, 6-4, on Saturday, in the final round of the qualifiers.
Ruse (27 years old, WTA's 112) won after almost two hours (1h 53min) of playing, in her second match against Saville (30 years old, WTA's 125).
Ruse, who in the first round of the qualifiers passed American Taylor Townsend (28 years old, WTA's 81), 6-3, 6-7 (4/7), 6-2, also defeated Saville, formerly Gavrilova, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, in 2022, in the first round of the US Open, Agerpres informs.
Ruse has got a cheque of 16,900 US dollars and 40 WTA points for reaching this far in the competition.
