Romanian tennis player Irina Begu qualified on Tuesday for the second round of the WTA tournament in Charleston (South Carolina), after defeating Turkish Cagla Buyukakcay, with a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Begu (aged 26, WTA's 33rd), 10th seed, managed to defeat Buyukakcay (aged 27, WTA's 108th) in 64 minutes.
Irina Begu, who only has two victories this year and nine defeats, obtained her most obvious success of the past three years, a score of 6-0, 6-0 in an event against Claudia Gaspar, in April 2014, in the qualifications for Oeiras (Portugal), where she reached the semifinals.
Irina Begu, who secured a 4,738-US-dollar cheque and 30 WTA points, will play in the second round against Kristina Kucova (Slovakia), the one who defeated on Tuesday Silvia Soler Espinosa (Spain), with a score of 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (2). Begu and Kucova (aged 26, WTA's 81st) will be opponents for the first time.
