Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan was defeated by Hungarian Dalma Galfi with a score of 6-3, 6-4, on Monday, in the first round of the qualifiers for the main draw of the singles of the Grand Slam tournament of Roland Garros.
Ana Bogdan (32 years old, no. 164 WTA) lost after an hour and 15 minutes to the number two seed of the preliminary phase.
The Romanian had won both previous duels with Galfi (26 years old, no. 95 WTA), 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of an ITF tournament in Dubai in 2019 and 6-1, 6-4 in the Billie Jean King Cup, in 2022.
Three other Romanians will compete in the qualifiers, Miriam Bulgaru (versus Spanish player Nuria Parrizas Diaz), Patricia Tig (versus Canadian Kayla Cross), Mihaela Buzarnescu (versus Australian Talia Gibson), and Filip Cristian Jianu (versus Slovak Jozef Kovalik).
