The three-month ROBOR index, which is used to calculate interest rates on consumer loans in lei with variable interest, fell on Thursday to 6.41% per year, from 6.46% in the previous session, according to data the National Bank of Romania (BNR) published on Thursday.
At the beginning of this year, the index stood at 5.92% per annum.
The six-month ROBOR index, used to calculate interest rates on mortgage loans in lei with variable interest, decreased to 6.58% per year, from 6.61%, while the 12-month ROBOR dropped to 6.79% from 6.81%.
As for the benchmark index for consumer loans (IRCC), regulated by Emergency Ordinance 19/2019, it stands at 6.06% per year. This is calculated as the arithmetic average of the daily interbank interest rates in the second quarter of 2025, the highest level it has reached so far.
