Romania's relationship with the Republic of Moldova is a strategic one, and the evolution of trade certifies this, Catalin Dan, director for external relations at the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), said on Monday.

He added that trade has doubled in the last 10 years, reaching 3.3 billion euros in 2024.

"From an economic point of view, Romania's relationship with the Republic of Moldova is a strategic one, and the evolution of trade certifies this. Trade has doubled in the last 10 years, reaching 3.3 billion euros in 2024, and the figures for July 2025 are encouraging. The volume of service exchanges has also followed an upward trend, reaching almost 500 million euros in 2023, with positive developments in both the export and import segments. A relevant indicator of the deepening of bilateral relations is the increasingly significant presence of Moldovan investors in Romania," Dan told the Romania - Republic of Moldova Business Forum.

According to official data, in September 2025, 8,070 companies with Moldovan capital were operating in Romania, with an invested share capital of 100.34 million euros, the director for external relations at the CCIR.

In turn, the vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Calenic, stressed the importance of the Romanian market for Moldovan entrepreneurs.

"Romania is the main market for our products. Romania is among the top European Union countries for our domestic products and I want to believe that this is also due to our efforts, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry from both countries. Over the years, we have organized multiple events and business forums and exhibitions that facilitate cooperation between economic agents from both countries. Consumers in Romania prefer our domestic products from Moldova and after each exhibition we have beautiful results. We have signed contracts, partnerships, we have stores open with our products in cities in Romania", Natalia Calenic said in a release sent to AGERPRES.

CCIR, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, organized, on November 24, the Romania-Republic of Moldova Business Forum. The event took place within the framework of the "Republic of Moldova-Romania" Managers' Skills Enhancement Program, now in its third edition, and the Moldovan business delegation was composed of approximately 20 entrepreneurs from the sectors of agriculture, food industry, viticulture, furniture production and consulting services.
