UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania) leader Kelemen Hunor believes that a "third way" must be found regarding the candidate for the presidential elections, who will be designated by a stable majority, which will be made up of the parties that signed a protocol a week ago, inform agerpres.ro.

"I would look for a man who knows and is familiar with the political world, but who is not at the forefront of any of the political parties at the moment, because at the moment the PSD (Social Democratic Party) will not accept the candidate to be the leader of the PNL (National Liberal Party), and the PNL will by no means accept for the candidate to be the leader of the PSD. It is a logical matter and this option should not be forced too much. And this means that a third way must be found," Kelemen Hunor told RFI private television broadcaster.

According to him, the option of a technocrat would not be suitable either.

"It can't be a technocrat, because this is not a job for a technocrat, the Romanian president must be a politician. He/she is someone who sits at the table with world leaders and these are not technocrats. So he/she must be a politician. But there are politicians in Romania - I have already seen five - six names circulating, and I am convinced that one will be found. But we must not prolong this casting for the presidential election candidate for too long. (...) I would prefer a single candidate from the coalition that we were trying to be part of, just to be part of the solution, for no other reason," specified Kelemen Hunor.
