Ukrainian asylum seekers in Romania since conflict starts reach 3,288

Romania's Interior Ministry (MAI) informed on Monday that, since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, 3,288 Ukrainian citizens had applied for asylum in Romania.

They enjoy all the rights provided for in national law. Throughout the procedure, asylum seekers qualify for accommodations at the centres of the General Immigration Inspectorate (IGI), if they so wish, as well as material, financial, and medical assistance, specialist psychological and legal counselling, access to the labour market, and cultural adjustment activities. In addition, they qualify for support from international and non-governmental organisations dealing with migration.

According to MAI, the current occupancy rate of the IGI accommodation centres is 66.1%.

As for traffic through the border crossing points, in the last 24 hours, 33,969 Ukrainian citizens entered the country, and 26,632 exited it.
