The University of Craiova is present, for the second consecutive year, in the three most important international rankings - Shanghai Ranking, Times Higher Education and QS World University Rankings.
According to the representatives of the institution, the University of Craiova is ranked, in the range of 301-400, in the famous top Shanghai Ranking for Academic Subjects for the field of Mathematics, where last year it was ranked in the range of 400-500.
"This ranking only quantifies research: number of relevant papers/number of authors and number of citations in ISI journals/number of authors. A maximum of 500 universities are ranked in each field and only 5000 universities worldwide are considered", say the representatives University of Craiova.
And in the Times Higher Education global ranking, the University of Craiova occupies, for the second consecutive year, a position in the 1500+ range. Also, in fields of study, the University of Craiova is maintained in Times Higher Education in the range of 801-1000 for the field of Informatics and Computers, in the range of 1001+ for the field of Engineering and Technology and in the range of 1001+ for the field of Sciences.
"In this ranking, only approximately 3,000 universities worldwide are taken into account. The classification is carried out in 11 fields (4 of which do not exist at the University of Craiova); the University of Craiova applied to 6 of them and was classified in 3 (4th place in Romania in number of appearances after Babes-Bolyai University, University of Bucharest, Transilvania University): Informatics and Computers: 801-1000 (there are only 6 universities in Romania in this range); Engineering field: 1001+ (there are 9 universities from Romania in this range and only one university from Romania is better classified); Science field: 1001+ (there are 5 Romanian universities in this range and only 3 Romanian universities are better classified in the 801-1000 range)", says a press release from the University of Craiova.
The University of Craiova also maintains its place in the latest QS World University Rankings, in the 1401+ range in which there are approximately 3,000 universities in the world.
In making the last two rankings of university performance, the following indicators are taken into account: academic reputation, reputation among employers, student/teaching staff ratio, scientific works/number of teaching staff ratio, citations/scientific works ratio, number of teaching staff from abroad or students from abroad, as well as the ability to transfer technology to society.
