Victoria Governmental Palace to be illuminated in red on World Duchenne Awareness Day
The Romanian Government joins the global campaign to support children and adults diagnosed with Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy and to raise awareness of the problems they face, told Agerpres.
On the occasion of World Duchenne Awareness Day, the Victoria Governmental Palace will be illuminated in red, the Executive informed on Thursday through a press release.
"I hope that this gesture of support that we are marking at the Government level will find an echo in the consciousness of as many Romanians as possible and, in particular, at the level of institutions and authorities that can support these patients with special needs. The diagnosis of muscular dystrophy should not be a hindrance in the lives of those who are faced with this condition. People diagnosed with this rare disease, which marks them from their early years of life, need the support of society and state institutions for a normal life and equal opportunities," said Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
He mentioned people diagnosed with this rare disease can be helped to enjoy inclusion.
"With empathy and ownership on the part of society and representatives of state authorities we can help them overcome the mobility barriers they face due to the disease and enjoy inclusion in all aspects, whether it is access to specific health and social care, access to education, access to public spaces or equal opportunities," said the PM.
