The volume of construction works fell by 4.1 pct in 2018 compared to the previous year, against the backdrop of the decline of new construction works (-8.4 pct), according to data published Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

On the other hand, there were increases in maintenance and repair works (+ 7.9 pct) and capital repairs (+ 1.5 pct).
By construction objects, the volume of construction works dropped in residential buildings (-23.6 pct) and in non-residential buildings (-5.5 pct). Growth was recorded in engineering construction works (+8 pct).
