The polling stations organized abroad for the parliamentary election closed on Monday morning, at 07.00 am (Romania's time).
However, voters who are at the polling station at 9.00 pm (local time), as well as those who are in line outside the polling station headquarters, can exercise their constitutional right until 11.59 (local time) at the latest.
Voting abroad began on Friday, in Auckland, New Zealand, at 8.00 pm (Romania's time), and the last polling stations to be closes are those in Vancouver, Canada, and in the localities on the West Coast of the USA, such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, Anaheim, Las Vegas, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle.
As many as 951 polling stations were organized abroad, a record number, according to Romanian authorities. The most polling stations were opened in Italy (and Malta) - 158 and in the Kingdom of Spain - 147.
By 9.00 pm on Sunday, 744,350 voters had showed up to vote.
A total of 4,343 Romanians in the diaspora voted by mail.
