A wind park worth 150 million euros, which will produce energy to supply over 50,000 households, annually, will be built in the Galati County, as part of an investment carried out by two foreign companies from Sweden and Greece, the president of the Galati County Council (CJ), Costel Fotea, informs in a press release on Wednesday.
The project, which will be called the Ansthall Wind Farm, will have an installed capacity of 96 MW, agerpres reports.
"The Galati County has today consolidated its status as 'regional capital of wind energy', as we are laying the foundation for a new wind farm, with an installed capacity of 96 MW. The project, worth more than 150 million euros, is being developed by OX2 (Sweden) and Hellenic Renewables (Greece). The Ansthall Wind Farm, which will be built on the territory of eight municipalities - Scanteiesti, Fartanesti, Cuca, Schela, Cuza-Voda, Pechea, Rediu and Slobozia-Conachi - will integrate state-of-the-art technology provided by the Danish company Vestas," Costel Fotea said in the press release.
There will be 15 wind turbines built, 223-metre high each, capable of transforming wind energy into electricity with a high degree of efficiency.
"The green energy produced annually, estimated at 312 GWh, will cover the electric power consumption of more than 50,000 households. At the same time, the project will contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 150,000 tonnes per year - the equivalent of the emissions produced by 75,000 cars," said Costel Fotea.
According to the president of the County Council, through this project, Galati County actively contributes to Romania's transition to sustainable energy sources.
