Working group to develop Guide on food donation

The Vice President of the National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) Ioan Oleleu, together with specialists from the institution and representatives of the Association of Large Commercial Networks in Romania (AMRCR), initiated a working group to develop a Guide on food donation, according to Regulation (EC) No. 852/2004 on food hygiene.

"This guide will support the reduction of food waste and will create a sustainable framework for the efficient use of resources, for the benefit of the entire society. Following the meeting, steps were established for the continuation of the work and the approval of the guide by ANSVSA," a post on the institution's Facebook account informs.

Among the topics discussed were: establishing the shelf life of food; food classification according to the date of minimum durability; food safety assessment in the donation process.
