More than 63 educational institutions from 15 countries will be present on September 27 at the World Education Fair (WEF), organized in Bucharest, where young people will have the opportunity to connect with the latest international educational trends and access first-hand information about scholarship opportunities and study support.
According to a press release from the organizers, participation in the event is free and based on online registration or on-site sign-up.
The latest Integraledu data shows significant changes in the academic choices of young people who choose to study abroad.
Thus, although the Netherlands and the UK remain among the top study destinations, the number of applications to these countries has dropped by 34 percent and 50 percent, respectively. At the same time, universities in Spain have recorded a 140 percent increase in applications, ranking third in the preferences of Romanians, according to the event organizers.
"As educational consultants, we anticipated this phenomenon several years ago. The fact that more young people choose Spain is driven by factors such as socio-cultural affinity, as well as the universities' efforts to develop English-language programs. We are seeing a similar approach in some Italian universities, which are now offering more English-taught programs compared to previous years," IntegralEdu deputy general manager Alexandra Badescu stated, as quoted in the release.
According to the quoted source, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Ireland continue to rank among the top 10 educational destinations chosen by Romanian students. At the same time, there is a growing number of applications to new study destinations such as Cyprus and Malta, where tuition fees range between 600 and 10,000 euros per year, and where English, as an official language, represents a major advantage for international students.
Medicine and psychology, two of the most popular fields of study in recent years, are now seeing a decline by 75 percent and 47 percent respectively, according to the event organizer.
At the WEF, young people can explore a wide range of scholarship opportunities offered by participating universities, including merit-based scholarships, scholarships based on campus and field of specialization, tuition discounts of up to 50 percent and other types of financial aid.
The demand for educational camps has increased by 10 percent compared to the previous season. Dubai, South Korea, Vietnam, China and Peru have emerged as new holiday destinations for teenagers.
Internal data shows a steady year-on-year growth in demand for educational camps, with a development rate of approximately 10 percent compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, sports enthusiasts can also choose specialized football camps, organized in partnership with internationally renowned clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.
"Foreign language learning remains a central pillar of international education. In addition to English, students are showing growing interest in French, German, Spanish and Italian. Studying a second foreign language after English offers a significant competitive advantage in the university admission process abroad, as well as in one's career. Thus, European destinations such as Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland are increasingly sought after, both for improving local language and for cultural immersion and networking," Manager of the Camps and High Schools Department Raluca Niculae stated.
All these types of educational programs, and many more, will be available to participants at this autumn's edition of the World Education Fair.
In addition to traditional destinations in Europe and the US, the Asian region is gaining more ground, with well-established programs in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as new programs in South Korea, China and Vietnam.
