Romanian tennis player Jaqueline Cristian qualified for the round of 16 of the Transylvania Open tournament (WTA 250), with total prizes of 283,347 dollars and hosted by BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, on Tuesday evening, by defeating Italian Lucrezia Stefanini 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Cristian (27 years old, no. 35 WTA), the second seed of the tournament, achieved the victory after two hours and 18 minutes of play, against an opponent who came from the qualifications (27 years old, no. 140 WTA).
Jaqueline Cristian had defeated Stefanini in their first encounter, in 2023, in the first round in Rouen, 7-6 (7/5), 6-1.
In the round of 16, the Romanian will face another opponent from the qualifiers, Ukrainian Daria Snigur (23 years old, no. 144 WTA).
