On Tuesday, Romania won two medals at the World Wrestling Championships for non-Olympic weight categories in Tirana (Albania), inform agerpres.ro.
Thus, Denis Florin Mihai won the bronze medal in the 55 kg category, in the Greco-Roman event, after defeating China's Haifeng Zhang in the decisive match.
On Monday, Mihai had defeated Japanese Kagetora Okamoto in the round of 16, in the quarterfinals he got past Indian Sanjeev Sanjeev, but lost the semi-final against Azerbaijani Eldaniz Azizli.
In the women's category, Kateryna Zelenykh qualified for the final event in the 65 kg category, in which he will meet Chinese Jia Long. The Romanian athlete of Ukrainian origin, who won a bronze medal last week at the U23 World Championships in Tirana, defeated Azerbaijani Elis Manolova in the round of 16, in the quarterfinals she got past American Macey Ellen Kilty, and in the semifinals she defeated Russian Valeria Dondupova Suvorova.
In the 72 kg category, Alexandra Nicoleta Anghel lost in the round of 16 to Japanese Ami Ishii, but she will enter the requalifications with a fight against Ukrainian Anastasia Alpieieva.
Another representative of Romania of Ukrainian origin, Kateryna Zhydachevska, got defeated in the round of 16 of the 59 kg category event by Ukrainian Solomia Vinik.
Romania will also be represented by three athletes in the freestyle wrestling event, Razvan Kovacs (61 kg category), Stefan Coman (70 kg category) and Zurab Kapraev (79 kg category).
