Romania's labour market slowed down in the first 3 months of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year, and the most active candidates come from the 25-34 age group, followed by 18-24 year olds, the two categories together accounting for 53% of the resumes sent, according to a Bestjobs press release.

As many as 52,000 jobs have been advertised on bestjobs, the online recruitment platform, generating over 2.4 million applications.

According to the cited source, candidates are more active than ever and technology is playing an increasingly important role in the recruitment process. In Q1, 60,000 new CVs were created on bestjobs, with 42% of these using recommendations generated using the bestjobs AI Assistant, reflecting the growing interest in digital solutions in recruitment. However, companies remain selective, contacting for interview candidates with a high match rate of over 80%. This trend is creating challenges for candidates, particularly in the technology and financial services sectors, where competition for jobs remains intense, especially for specialized, senior roles.

IT&C remains the clear leader in the top of the highest-paid fields: an AI Engineer in Bucharest earns up to 4.500 EUR net, and a Full Stack Engineer, remote job, up to 3.900 EUR net. Next in terms of salary level are positions in Medicine/Health, management and coordination, Agriculture/Zootechnics and Engineering, sectors where the demand for specialists remains high.

In terms of job vacancies, large economic centers continue to attract the most professional opportunities.

The counties with the most jobs were Bucharest & Ilfov, Timisoara, Cluj, Brasov and Iasi. The market was dominated by white collar roles, jobs for specialists, technicians, management roles and office-based employees, accounting for 53% of the total available offers. The areas with the most jobs were Sales & Retail (16,000), Finance/Accounting (6,700), Engineering (5,800), Management (5,500) and Manufacturing/Logistics (5,100).

"The labour market is undergoing an accelerated transformation, shaped by technology and new work patterns. Thus, 2025 marks a turning point in many respects, with the adoption of AI and the development of digital skills being essential both for candidates to remain relevant in the labour market and for companies as a growth strategy in an increasingly competitive environment," Andrei Frunza, CEO, bestjobs, was quoted s saying in the press release.

Workplace flexibility remains one of the most valued benefits for candidates. Companies that have tried to impose a full return to the office have encountered resistance, which has led to the integration of remote working to attract and retain professionals. 28% of job offers on bestjobs include a hybrid program as a benefit. Millennials and Generation Z employees, the majority in the labour market, are the ones who want flexibility the most, and the hybrid model has become the balancing point between employee and employer needs.

Bestjobs, one of the leading online recruitment platforms in Romania, with over 25 years of experience, connects talent with top companies using AI technologies.
