A total of 4,677,789 pensioners were registered in Romania at the end of July 2026, 1,003 fewer than in the previous month, while the average pension was 2,785 lei, according to data compiled by the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) and reviewed by AGERPRES.
The total value of pension entitlements amounted to 13.025 billion lei, agerpres reports.
Of the total number of pensioners, 509,062 had periods of employment in agriculture, with an average pension of 711 lei.
According to CNPP statistics, the number of people who had retired upon reaching the statutory retirement age stood at 3,780,494, of whom 2,154,811 were women, while the average pension was 3,117 lei.
In July 2026, early retirement pensions were received by 59,589 people, with an average pension of 2,443 lei, while disability pensions were received by 389,281 people, with an average pension of 1,076 lei. Of these, 46,096 people had first-degree disabilities, with an average pension of 940 lei.
In the same month, survivor's pensions were paid to 448,337 people, with an average pension of 1,511 lei, while 88 pensioners received social assistance, averaging 528 lei.
