The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informed on Thursday that, since the beginning of the West Nile virus infection surveillance period, June 3 and until September 12, 54 cases have been registered, of which 48 confirmed and 6 probable, informs Agerpres.
According to the INSP, five deaths have been recorded as a result of West Nile virus infection - in Salaj county - 1, Suceava county - 3 and one in Bucharest.
Most cases - 17 - were registered in the 70-79 age group and 13 in people aged between 60 and 69, the INSP said.
