Bucharest and seven counties from the south and southeast of the country will be under the Code Orange of heat and severe thermal discomfort on Tuesday, and a Code Yellow of heat warning is in effect in other 28 counties (out of 41).

According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), on Tuesday, in the counties of Teleorman, Giurgiu, Calarasi, Ialomita, Braila, Constanta (partially), Ilfov and the municipality of Bucharest, the heat wave will intensify and maximum temperatures of 37 - 39 degrees Celsius will occur. The thermal discomfort will be accentuated, and the temperature-humidity index will be above the critical threshold of 80 units, agerpres reports.

In the rest of the country (with the exception of the counties of Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Hunedoara, Covasna, Neamt, Suceava, Botosani), where a Code Yellow is in force, the heat wave will persist, and in the plain and local areas in the hills and the plateau will be hot. Thermal discomfort will be high, and the temperature-humidity index will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units. The maximum temperatures will generally be between 33 and 37 degrees, and the minimums will be between 17 and 24 degrees.

The heat wave will persist, in most parts of the country, throughout the week, ANM notes.
