The leadership of the National Liberal Party (PNL) on Friday endorsed the governing programme and team proposed by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan, Senate President Mircea Abrudean announced. He said he had accepted his nomination as deputy prime minister and minister of internal affairs.
"Today, the PNL leadership endorsed the governing programme and the team proposed by Prime Minister-designate Siegfried Muresan. I have been alongside Siegfried during these days of discussions and consultations and have seen his willingness to listen, embrace ideas and build a realistic programme, with measures that can be put into practice. This is also one of the reasons why I accepted my nomination as minister of internal affairs and deputy prime minister," Abrudean wrote on Facebook.
He stressed the need to bring the political crisis to an end and form a fully empowered government capable of working in the interests of Romania and its citizens.
"Siegfried, you have my support. Best of luck!" Abrudean further conveyed.
PM-designate Siegfried Muresan announced that the proposed Cabinet would be unveiled on Friday after the parties supporting it approve their ministerial nominations.
Muresan also met President Nicusor Dan on Friday.
