Artificial Intelligence (AI) is replacing more than 50% of the tasks we perform today and the new technology needs to amplify our capabilities and be an extension of what we can do, our value and our expertise, Mohammed Benzakour, a specialist in organisational transformation and AI adoption, told a specialist conference on Friday, according to Agerpres.
"I'm sorry to put it this way, but AI is actually replacing more than 50% of the tasks we do today. And this is based on studies by the World Economic Forum and various research institutes, which say that over the next five to ten years, more than 50% of the tasks that are part of your jobs every day will be automated. So, even if you do not change your job, your job will have an impact on you, whether you are in marketing, sales or HR, you have no choice. So, if it takes 50% of your work, what is left for you? We are therefore talking about an identity crisis. When I go to universities, many students ask themselves why they should still get a degree, whether it is a master's, an MBA or even an advanced degree. In my book, I develop the idea of how to learn about AI, how to assess it, how to build that knowledge and build the future in regions that will be led by people. AI needs to amplify our capabilities and be an extension of what we can do, our value, our expertise and the way we collaborate with one another," the expert stressed.
According to the specialist, there is enthusiasm about AI "because for the first time we realise that we can access 20 years of knowledge in three seconds."
"My thinking about how AI is transforming our society, but also our personal lives, began two years ago. I think, like you, I was amazed. I was stunned when ChatGPT first showed me its capabilities in 2022 and I think it made me question myself, rethink how I do my work and truly rebuild my role and value in society. I have spoken at many international conferences, in Dubai and in Europe. I have had the opportunity to meet many leaders, investors, CEOs and students. I go to universities and I see something in common. I have seen enthusiasm because for the first time we realise that we can access 20 years of knowledge in three seconds. Who isn't excited about that? Let's be excited. We can all invest like Warren Buffett and be an agent tomorrow and start becoming richer, can't we? At the same time, I have seen fear... And that came from everyone. I have seen the fear of being replaced, the fear of being challenged every day, the fear of not understanding where my limits are," Benzakour said.

He has advised governments, companies and universities on AI adoption and workforce transformation. Technology specialists are attending on Friday the conference "Human-Led, AI-Enabled: A Necessary Conversation," organised by the Center for Economy & Society (CES) Bucharest.
