Acting Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tanczos Barna announced on Saturday the successful completion of the application campaign for APIA subsidy payments for 2026.
"One of the main priorities of my mandate as interim minister was to ensure the successful completion of this essential process for farmers. A total of 671,334 payment applications were submitted, covering a total area of 9,766,322 hectares. Compared with last year, the declared area increased while the number of applications fell, particularly in the case of plots smaller than 5 hectares. This development reflects the ongoing consolidation of agricultural land and the strengthening of farm holdings, which is essential for improving the competitiveness of Romanian agriculture," Tanczos Barna said in a post on his Facebook page, agerpres reports.
He thanked all APIA employees at central level, as well as those in county and local offices, for the collective and individual efforts that made the successful completion of this campaign possible.
The Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture (APIA) had previously reminded farmers that the deadline for submitting payment applications under the 2026 Campaign was 5 June 2026 inclusive. After that date, applications can no longer be submitted. Farmers were encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity in order to avoid losing the financial support granted through the schemes and measures managed by APIA.
