Anti-corruption prosecutors demanded on Monday in top court trial proceedings that former deputy Sebastian Ghita be sentenced to prison in the case where he is being indicted alongside former police and prosecution heads.
"It is mandatory that the custodial sentences are effectively served. This case is iconic for corruption and interconnections between the judicial and the political system," the session prosecutor argued.
Sebastian Ghita was sent to court on two counts of bribe offering, influence peddling, money laundering, two counts of using confidential information, or allowing the access of unauthorized persons to such information and driving without a license.
