The Administration of the Bran Castle announced on Wednesday the passing away of Her Imperial and Regal Highness Archduchess Elisabeth Sandhofer, member of the Habsburg family, heir of the Bran Castle.
"The Bran Castle announces with profound sadness the departure of Her Imperial and Royal Highness Archduchess Elisabeth Sandhofer, who passed away after a long and severe suffering. Warm, discreet presence and with a fine sense of humor, she has definitely marked the return to life of the Bran Castle, which came out of its long communist night. She will always be in our prayers, together with her grandmother, Queen Marie and her mother, Princess Ileana," a release of the Bran Castle Administration sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday informed.
Archduchess Elisabeth Sandhofer was born in 1942.
Spokesman of the Bran Castle Bogdana Balmus said that in the inner courtyard of the castle a special place was put together for those who want to light a candle and a book of condolences was set up.
The Bran Castle came into the full possession of the heirs of Princess Ileana: Archduke Dominic of Habsburg, Archduchess Maria Magdalena Holzhausen and Archduchess Elisabeth Sandhofer in June 2009. The Bran Castle still remains the most visited tourist destination in Brasov county, exceeding one million visitors in 2017.
