Arrivals in tourist accommodation structures increased by 16.1pct, in February 2022, compared to February 2021, and overnight stays by 15.6pct, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Thus, the arrivals recorded in the tourist accommodation structures in February 2022 amounted to 578,000 people, with the arrivals of Romanian tourists representing 88pct of the total, while the arrivals of foreign tourists, only 12pct.
The overnight stays recorded in the tourist accommodation structures in February 2022 amounted to 1.089 million, increasing by 15.6pct compared to those in February 2021. Out of the total number of overnight stays, the overnight stays of Romanian tourists represented 86pct, while the overnight stays of foreigners accounted for 14pct.
The average length of stay in February 2022 was 1.8 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for foreign tourists.
The index of net use of tourist accommodation places, in February 2022, was 21.5pct on total tourist accommodation structures, increasing by 1.7 percentage points compared to February 2021.
The arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, as recorded at the border points, in February 2022, amounted to 626,800 people, increasing by 116.5pct compared to February 2021.
The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, as recorded at the border points, in February 2022, amounted to 865,500 people, an increase of 59pct compared to February 2021.
Arrivals recorded in the tourist accommodation structures between January and February 2022 amounted to 1.157 million people, an increase of 18.2pct compared to the similar period of 2021.
Out of the total number of arrivals, in the first two months of the year, the arrivals of Romanian tourists in the tourist accommodation structures represented 89.5pct, while the arrivals of foreign tourists accounted for 10.5pct.
The overnight stays recorded in the tourist accommodation structures between January 1 and February 28, 2022 amounted to 2.192 million, up 20pct against the similar period in 2021. The overnight stays of Romanian tourists in the tourist accommodation units represented 87.5pct, while the overnight stays of foreign tourists stood at 12.5pct.
The average length of stay between January and February 2022 was 1.9 days for Romanian tourists and 2.2 days for foreign tourists.
The net use index of tourist accommodation in the first two months was 20.4pct of total tourist accommodation structures, increasing by two percentage points compared to the same period in 2021.
In January and February, the arrivals of foreign visitors to Romania, as recorded at the border points, accounted for 1.154 million people, up 84.2pct compared to the corresponding period in 2021.
The departures of Romanian visitors abroad, as recorded at the border points in the same period, numbered 1.936 million people, increasing by 49.1pct compared to the similar interval of 2021, Agerpres informs.
