Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated on Thursday that he did not ask any government employee to do anything other than what is in the job description, nor to defend him more than necessary, because he has no reason to run away from journalists.

Bolojan was asked what he thought about the incident in the Parliament lobby, when a Government employee blocked journalists from reaching him.

"It is a regrettable incident, I am sorry if anyone felt in one way or another assaulted by the Government employee who was there in the press area. But what I can tell you is that I have never encouraged verbal aggression, especially physical aggression against anyone, and I do not agree with it and, of course, not against journalists. This is to make things as clear as possible. I did not ask any Government employee to do anything other than what is in the job description, nor to defend me more than is necessary, because I have no reason to run away from journalists. I did not see what happened behind me, I left the room directly, I went towards the elevator, so I did not see, that if I had seen what was happening I could have drawn their attention to leave the journalists alone. But here I believe that additional explanation is needed beyond these clarifications," Bolojan told Digi 24.

He added that he has no personal responsibility for what happened, but he may have a moral responsibility.

"What I asked my colleagues today is to discuss as clearly as possible with all employees who are in the interface area, so that we can avoid such situations and ensure that they do not happen again in the future," he said.

The Prime Minister mentioned, however, that he never encouraged "some habits" that he saw, especially in the Parliament building.

"There was a wave of journalists running in the hallways after anyone to make a statement and I avoided, and I think this is known, making such statements on the fly while they are running after you. When I was elected to the Senate, I organized an informal meeting with all the journalists, I asked them, I explained to them, I held press conferences on all the positions I held, I came to interviews, I answered the most difficult questions, any kind of questions that were asked of me, but if some people who had positions, people in politics, prime ministers or other positions answered in this way, had such a behavior of answering in the hallways, of making all kinds of improvised statements, I considered that it was not a proper manner. It generates a feeling of total disorder and I preferred a discussion institutional," Bolojan concluded.
