National Liberal Party (PNL) first vice president Dan Motreanu said on Friday that Ilie Bolojan was appointed prime minister at a difficult time for Romania, when unpopular decisions must be made, noting that " it will not be easy, but Romanians once again have reason to hope for a better life.", informs Agerpres.

"Ilie Bolojan was appointed prime minister at a difficult time for Romania, a time when unpopular decisions must be made. He has undertaken clear goals: putting public finances in order, ensuring effective government, and respecting Romanians through actions, not just words. Ilie Bolojan is not looking for applause. He calls a spade a spade. A huge effort is needed to make all these things a reality. It will not be easy, but Romanians once again have reason to hope that they will have a better life," Motreanu wrote on Facebook.

He mentioned that Ilie Bolojan is "a leader validated by results, with a solid career in local administration."

"He reduced bureaucracy, cut waste, accelerated investments, and put the public interest above political calculations. As interim president, he has demonstrated balance, competence, and integrity," Motreanu wrote.

Dan Motreanu pointed out that the prime minister-designate must choose, together with his governing partners, the package of measures to balance the budget.

"The future government has a duty to make the right decisions for the long-term good of the country. Political calculations should not come first, but rather what is beneficial for Romania. Ilie Bolojan speaks openly about uncomfortable truths. Romania has a high budget deficit," Motreanu added.

He specified that the proposed solutions are clear: accelerating the attraction of European funds, prioritizing useful investments, reducing waste, and cutting red tape.

"Public sinecures must be eliminated. We must reduce tax evasion, including by tightening legislation in this area. Otherwise, by increasing taxes, we are hitting those who already pay taxes," added the PNL first vice president.

On Friday, President Nicusor Dan appointed Ilie Bolojan, interim leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), as prime minister.
