Bucharest acting mayor Stelian Bujduveanu announced that the capital city has been awarded the Mission Label M100, a certification that grants priority access to funding and projects designed to accelerate the city's transformation.
"Today, Bucharest officially joins the ranks of European cities that build their development on vision, rigor and responsibility. Mission Label M100 is more than a distinction - it is the recognition of the fact that we have a solid, coherent plan aligned with European standards. This certification grants priority access to funding and essential projects to speed up the city's transformation: smoother transport, cleaner air, greener public spaces and technology that makes administration more agile and efficient," the acting mayor wrote on Facebook on Friday.
He also mentioned that Bucharest confirms in this way that it is a "credible partner" for Europe.
Bujduveanu thanked those involved in this endeavor at the Bucharest City Hall and the city's six sectors, as well as partners from academia, non-governmental organizations and the private sector.
M100 (the National Platform for Supporting Romanian Cities in Their Transition to Smart and Climate-Neutral Cities) announced on Thursday that the cities selected last year for the M100 initiative have received the M100 National Label in recognition of their efforts to achieve climate neutrality.
"The ten cities (Alba Iulia, Bistrita, Brasov, Bucharest, Buzau, Constanta, Iasi, Oradea, Resita and Timisoara) have benefited from support from M100 Hub for the development and commitment of climate neutrality strategies (Climate City Contracts). In the coming years, these framework documents will guide their steps in implementing concrete actions so that cities become smarter, more sustainable and friendlier to their inhabitants and communities," M100 HUB said on its Facebook page.
