Romania and Tunisia are strengthening their bilateral cooperation within the framework of the economic mission carried out by the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) in this country, where companies from sectors such as renewable energy, agri-food, digital technologies, automotive, pharmaceutical and textiles discussed investment opportunities and partnerships in third markets, including in Africa and Europe.

According to a CCIB press release sent to AGERPRES, the economic delegation led by CCIB on Monday participated in the business forum "Romania-Tunisia Business Forum: Connecting Opportunities," an event that brought together government officials, investment agencies and business representatives from the two countries.

"The event represented the official moment of the bilateral economic mission in Tunisia, being organised by CONECT International with the support of the Embassy of Romania to the Republic of Tunisia. The forum brought together high-ranking officials - the Tunisian Minister of Economy and Planning - investment agencies - the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA), the Tunisian Investment Authority (TIA), the Export Promotion Centre of Tunisia (CEPEX) and the Technical Cooperation Agency - as well as business representatives and relevant institutions from both states, highlighting the continuity of the economic dialogue initiated during the visit of the Tunisian delegation to Romania in 2025. During that visit, held at the CCIB Palace, the Memorandum of Understanding between CCIB and CONECT International was signed by Presidents Iuliu Stocklosa and Tarak Cherif, a document that reflects the strengthening of bilateral economic relations between Romania and Tunisia and which created the necessary framework for organising the current economic mission in Tunisia," the press release reads.

In this context, CCIB President Iuliu Stocklosa expressed his confidence in identifying relevant partners in Tunisia, highlighting Tunisia's strategic role as a gateway to the African market and Romania's role as an entry point to Central and Eastern Europe.

Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Tunisia Valentin-Ciprian Muntean underscored the objective of strengthening bilateral economic relations and identifying new projects in fields such as renewable energy, the agri-food sector, digital technologies, the automotive industry, the pharmaceutical industry and the textile industry.

In turn, Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Abdelhafidh encouraged Romanian investments, underlining the willingness of the Tunisian authorities to ensure a stable and predictable business environment.

During the forum, the companies present in the CCIB delegation, active in sectors such as IT, the defence industry, agri-food, transport, infrastructure, consultancy, recruitment and accounting, had the opportunity to present their activity and expertise.

The programme continued with extended B2B meeting sessions with Tunisian partners, followed by a networking event and an official dinner hosted by the Romanian side.
