The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) of Romania informed it validated in its Thursday meeting the results of the referendum held on November 24 in Bucharest, as the voter turnout surpassed the 40% threshold required for all three questions.

The first question, regarding whether the general mayor of Bucharest should have the authority to issue building permits across the entire city, received a valid response from 40.22% of the people registered on the permanent voter rolls, inform agerpres.ro.

The second question, concerning the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest being in charge with the distribution of income taxes and local taxes collected from Bucharest residents among the Bucharest City Hall and sectoral mayoralties, was also validated with 40.16% valid responses from registered voters.

Finally, the third question, which asked if the Bucharest City Hall should finance and implement an educational programme on health and drug prevention in all schools in Bucharest, received 40.23% valid responses.

The full ruling will be published in the Official Journal of Romania and can be accessed on the BEC official website.
