The Commander of the Multinational Corps South-East, Lieutenant General Cristian Dan, said on Wednesday that "peace is not inherited, but built," on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of this NATO structure in Sibiu.

"Eight years ago, it was just an idea - a shared vision between Romania and NATO. Five years ago, this vision became a reality through commitment, trust, and the belief that peace is not inherited, but built. (...) Our team is a a jigsaw puzzle of commitment and diversity: Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Each nation brings not only capabilities, but also culture, character, and cohesion. Fortis in Unum - it's not just our motto. It's who we are," said Commander Cristian Dan.

According to him, the Sibiu command is connected to "the NATO command structure, as well as to subordinate units - the Multinational Division Southeast, the Multinational Brigade Southeast, and both Battle Groups, with France and Italy as framework nations.

The NATO command in Sibiu is "a regional security umbrella - designed to protect, deter and, if necessary, defend," Lieutenant General Cristian Dan added.
