Concordia Employers' Confederation is calling on prime minister-designate Ilie Bolojan to ensure that any measures with a major impact on the economy are preceded by genuine consultations with social partners, informs Agerpres.

In the context of pressure to balance public finances and a very tight schedule, the organization considers respect for the partnership and transparent dialogue with the business environment to be essential.

"It is in the interest of society as a whole that any measures with a major impact on the economy be preceded by genuine consultations with social partners. Transparency and dialogue must become the rule, not the exception. Romania is at a critical juncture and cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past - making major fiscal decisions without consulting those who will be directly affected and who contribute substantially to the national economy. Concordia Employers' Confederation, a representative social partner at national level, has the legitimacy and expertise necessary to be consulted on any major fiscal decision. We do not accept being faced with unilateral measures that directly affect our activity," the employers' confederation said in a press release.

In this context, Concordia calls for a focus on measures that generate real revenue for the budget through efficiency, complete transparency in the reform process and in the use of public money, concrete measures to improve the business climate, and recognition of the business community as a legitimate partner in dialogue.

"Once a predictable path for public finances has been secured, we believe that the new executive should focus on structural and sustainable solutions that support the competitiveness of the Romanian economy, in areas such as combating tax evasion, reforming and streamlining the state, and large-scale structural reforms, including those undertaken through PNRR [the National Recovery and Resilience Plan]. We want Concordia's short-term priorities to be included in the new government program, which is meant to help Romania reach its true potential. The business environment has shown consistent responsibility - it's created jobs, paid taxes, and invested in the country's development. Now is the time for the state to demonstrate its responsibility through solid reforms, real consultation, and the efficient use of existing resources. The time for empty reforms is over," the press release further reads.

On the other hand, the organization considers that the appointment of Ilie Bolojan as prime minister of Romania is an important step in ensuring political stability at a time of profound economic and social uncertainty.

"Concordia Employers' Confederation welcomes the appointment of Mr. Ilie Bolojan as prime minister of Romania - an important step in ensuring political stability at a time of profound economic and social uncertainty - and expresses its willingness to remain a partner in dialogue with the new government. Mr. Prime Minister Bolojan, the business community knows you as an efficient administrator and a reformer with concrete results. We are confident that this experience will be put to good use in a term characterized by responsibility, dialogue, and well-founded decisions. However, trust also comes with firm expectations," the cited document states.
