Mircea Basescu will not be released from prison, the magistrates of Constanta Court having admitted the appeal filed by the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors against the previous decision ruled by Medgidia court for probation.
Constanta Court's decision announced on Wednesday is final.
A panel of judges of Medgidia Court ruled on October 6, 2016 to admit the appeal for probation filed by Mircea Basescu.
Mircea Basescu was sentenced to four years in prison for influence peddling in favor of Sandu Anghel, called Bercea Mondial, in the case in which the former was charged for receiving 600,000 euro bribe from the latter's family.
