Construction production in Romania declined 2.2% in the first five months of 2024, year-on-year, seasonally adjusted, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Thursday.
At the same time, new construction works decreased by 4.8%, and capital repair works were on an upward trend (+4.5%), as well as ongoing maintenance and repair works (3.9%). At the same time, a decrease was recorded in residential buildings (-21.6%). On the other hand, civil engineering and non-residential buildings increased by 10.3% and 2.2%, respectively, year-on-year.
May 2024 construction production increased against May 2023 by 1.7% seasonally adjusted.
Construction production was down 4.2% as a result of decreases in ongoing maintenance and repair works (-16%), capital repair works (-9.8%) and new construction works (-1.4%).
