The Mures Environmental Guard announced that, following the appearance on social media of a video in which a person removed bear cubs from a den, the perpetrators were identified after the Mures County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) was notified.
"Regarding the case of the bear cubs taken out of the den, the Mures Environmental Guard comes with the following clarifications: on 04.03.2025 the video clip reached the chief commissioner, without having information at that time regarding the place where the crime was committed and the identity of the perpetrator. In order to clarify these aspects, the chief commissioner sent the video clip to the Mures County Police Inspectorate, so that, depending on the place where the crime took place, measures could be taken. From the checks carried out by the Mures County Police Inspectorate, it emerged that the crime was committed in Mures County, the police also established the identity of the perpetrators, so that, on 05.03.2025, the Mures Environmental Guard sent an address to the Mures IPJ, in "based on which a criminal case was opened. Given that our institution is not a criminal prosecution and investigation body, the case is being taken over by the Mures IPJ," the Mures Environmental Guard posted on Facebook.
The Environmental Guard Commissioners thanked those from the Animal Protection Bureau and the Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service within the Mures County Police Inspectorate for their promptness.
