The Supreme Council for National Defence (CSAT) meets at Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday, the agenda of the meeting featuring the presentation of the Romanian Armed Forces Endowment Plan for the 2017-2026 period.

The CSAT meeting, headed by President Klaus Iohannis, will be held at 15:00 hrs.

The head of state had a meeting at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace last week with the Minister of National Defence, Adrian Tutuianu, who presented him the Romanian Army endowment plan for 2017-2026 which provides for the compliance with and the implementation of the political commitment assumed in 2015 by all political parties to allocate 2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product to the Defence sector, for ten years starting with this year.

"The project, in its current revised form, will be the presentation topic at the next meeting of Romania's Supreme Defence Council meeting," was informing the Presidential Administration after the two dignitaries' meeting.

The 2017-2026 Romanian Army's endowment plan establishes the systems and the equipment planned for acquisition through the public acquisition annual programme of the National Defence Ministry regarding the endowment with weapons, combat technique and military-oriented material.

Last Wednesday, Minister of Defence Adrian Tutuianu was announcing that the Army endowment plan had been revised and would be presented in the CSAT upon President Klaus Iohannis's request.

"The endowment plan's withdrawal from the CSAT was made at my request, in order to give consistency both in terms of figures, and regarding whatever lies behind the figures of the 2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) commitment until 2026. The document has been amended and whenever Romania's President Klaus Iohannis requests it, we will present to the CSAT the full document," Tutuianu said in a press conference, specifying that only part of the 2 percent of the GDP for Defence is destined for endowment.

The last meeting of the CSAT took place on July 4. At that time, the Army's Endowment Plan for 2017-2026 was withdrawn from the CSAT's agenda by the initiator so as to be reviewed in line with the political wish to allocate 2 percent of GDP for Defence, President Klaus Iohannis was saying.
