The PSD, PNL, UDMR, and USR parties agreed this weekend on the ministers who will be part of the Bolojan government. Cseke Attila (UDMR) is the pick for minister of Development, Public Works, and Administration.
Cseke Attila-Zoltán was born on June 9, 1973, in Marghita, Bihor County.
Between 1987 and 1991, he attended the Marghita Industrial High School, and in 2000 he graduated from the Faculty of Legal and Administrative Sciences, specializing in Law, at the University of Oradea. He also pursued postgraduate studies in public law (2001 - 2002) and a master's degree in private law (2002-2004) at the same university.
He completed three professional training courses: community project management (Hungarian Students' Union, 2000); use of SAPARD funds (INA program, 2002); cross-border projects and financing (Bihor-Hajdu-Bihar Euroregion, 2003).
Between 1991 - 1993 and 1994-1996, he was administrator at SC TIP-TOP SRL in Marghita. Between 2001 and 2002, he was a consultant for the UDMR Bihor. He was advisor to the president of the Bihor County Council on legal issues (July 2002 - January 2005).
He was secretary of state within the General Secretariat of the Government (January 2005 - December 2008).
Cseke Attila became a member of the UDMR in 1997, where he held various positions: president of the Regulatory Oversight Committee within the UDMR Bihor (2002-2003); member of the UDMR Union Representatives Council (2003); executive vice president of the UDMR Bihor - member of the County Operational Council (April 2003 - April 2005); municipal councilor within the Local Council of the Municipality of Oradea - secretary of the Legal Commission (June 2004 - January 2005); executive vice president of the UDMR, responsible for local public administration issues (June 2007 - February 2009); president of the Bihor county organization of the UDMR (since August 2016), according to https://udmr.ro.
In 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 he was the coordinator of the Romanian side of the Preparatory Commission for the joint meetings of the Governments of Romania and the Republic of Hungary (Bucharest - October 20, 2005, Budapest - November 16, 2006, Sibiu - November 14, 2007 and Szeged - October 21, 2008).
He was president of the Coordination Council of Hungarian Youth in Bihor County (October 2004 - May 2009).
In the November 30, 2008 election, he was elected UDMR senator for Bihor. He served on: the Legal, Appointments, Discipline, Immunities, and Validations Committee (until February 2010 and since September 2011); the Special Committee for the Amendment and Completion of the Senate Regulations (until March 2010 and since September 2011); the Committee for Equal Opportunities (March - September 2011); the Committee for Defense, Public Order, and National Security (February 2010 - March 2011).
In December 2012 he was elected UDMR deputy in electoral constituency No. 5 Bihor, single-member constituency No. 1. He was vice-chairman of the Committee for Public Administration, Land Use Planning and Ecological Balance and secretary of the Validation Committee (Dec. 2012 - Dec. 2016).
He became a senator again following the 2016 parliamentary elections. He was the leader of the UDMR parliamentary group and a member of the joint special committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for the drafting of the Administrative Code. He was re-elected senator in the December 6, 2020, election.
In the December 2024 elections, he was re-elected senator for a third consecutive term in constituency No. 5 Bihor, according to https://www.cdep.ro/. He is a member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Poland, and the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Singapore.
On December 18, 2009 the Permanent Council of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania appointed Cseke Attila to take over the portfolio of the Ministry of Health in the Emil Boc Cabinet (Boc IV Government), receiving the vote of confidence in Parliament on December 23, 2009, together with the entire Emil Boc Cabinet. On August 4, 2011, he announced his resignation as Minister of Health, declaring himself dissatisfied with the amounts allocated to health following the budget rectification.
He was Minister of Development, Public Works, and Administration (Dec. 2020-June 2023) and Acting Minister of Health (Sept. - Nov. 2021).
Since December 23, 2024, Cseke Attila-Zoltan has held the portfolio of Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration in the Ciolacu 2 Government, according to https://gov.ro/. Since May 6, 2025, he has been Acting Minister of Development, Public Works and Administration.
