DefMin Tilvar to participate in Informal Meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Spain
National Defence Minister Angel Tilvar will participate on Tuesday and Wednesday in Toledo (Spain) in the Informal Meeting of EU Defence Ministers, an event that will be opened by a working session dedicated to the EU contribution to the security commitments for Ukraine, and later to the analysis of the regional and global impact of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against the neighbouring country, told Agerpres.
According to the National Defence Ministry (MApN), on the sidelines of the event, the National Defence Minister will participate in the second meeting of the Steering Committee of the EU Satellite Centre (EU SatCen) in the Defence Ministers' format at the SatCen headquarters in Torrejon.
Furthermore, on the sidelines of the informal meeting, Minister Angel Tilvar will sign, together with his counterpart from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the representative of Lockheed Martin, the letter of intent on the establishment of the F-16 Training Centre in Romania.
The Romanian Defence Minister will also have a meeting with his Spanish counterpart, during which the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the EU Council, the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions in Africa, the security situation on NATO's eastern flank and in the Black Sea region, as well as bilateral cooperation issues will be discussed.
The activity will conclude with a session dedicated to current affairs, where topical elements of the EU security and defence agenda will be addressed from an operational perspective.
NATO's Deputy Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning Angus Lapsley, UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, as well as the Ukrainian Minister of Defence Oleksii Reznikov have been invited to participate in this session, the source said.
