Minister of National Defence Gabriel Les on Wednesday and Thursday is set to participate in the meeting of the defence ministers from NATO member states, to take place at the headquarters of the North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation in Brussels, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informed in a release on Tuesday.

In the two days of the meeting the high officials will discuss topical issues regarding the implementation of the decisions adopted at the latest allied Summit in July 2018 and also at the subsequent ministerial meeting of October 2018.

"The event is divided into five formal meetings, with an emphasis on the current stage of implementation of the strengthened deterrence and defence posture, as well as aspects related to the reconfirmation of the allied unity and solidarity, through a substantial contribution to the fair distribution of responsibilities, participation in the allied missions and operations and cooperation at NATO-EU level. Moreover, the allied ministers will also discuss on the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty," specifies the MApN release.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Romanian official will have a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the NATO member states, UK and Canada, as well as from other partner states, such as Georgia and Ukraine.
