Education Minister Liviu Pop told DC News on Friday that a lot of the measures of the governing programme have been delayed and it has to be seen who is responsible of this thing inside the National Education Ministry (MEN), adding that some of his colleagues in the ministry have been taught that "it works as it is," but this "cannot go on any longer."
"A lot of the measures in the governing programme have been delayed, not all the measures depended on the Education Ministry. There are inter-institutional measures that we have to take. Some points in the governing programme are delayed, we can recover them and we are working hard to recover them. As a matter of fact, we completed the authority transfer from Mr Minister Nastase to me, I consult him almost daily, because there are several things that must be started and we have to see who delayed these measures. We have to see who delayed these measures inside the ministry, certain departments, certain directorates. This is why I told you that there are ancient problems in the Education Ministry, where some of my colleagues in the ministry have been taught to 'let it be, because it works as it is, this minister came, he, too, will leave, the next one will come, we'll sweet-talk him, no worries.' This cannot go on any longer. I will give you a simple example: the Education Ministry hasn't got any disciplinary board. We are trying to assembly one for the employees. (...) In a reasonable deadline of three months we will change the face and attitude of the Education Ministry and of some employees of the Education Ministry," Liviu Pop stated.
The Minister mentioned that "the ancient problems" he referred to are the ones connected to the internal organisation of the MEN.
Liviu Pop reiterated that the number one priority of the MEN is the school manuals issue for the 5th graders. In this context he mentioned that these are to be edited and teaches will be trained, as of 2017-2018 school year, based on the new manuals and curriculums.
As far as the financial side is concerned, Minister Liviu Pop stated that the ministry has money, but not enough. "We have money for the internal organisation of the ministry, salaries, professional training, but not enough. We want certain amounts at the revision, in certain areas," the Minister said.
