Romanian players Elena Zaharia and Iulian Chirita won the Europe Top 10 junior table tennis tournament, hosted by Sala Polivalenta in Bucharest, in the Under-19 category.
For women, Elena Zaharia took first place, with 18 points (maximum), followed by German Mia Griesel (16 points) and Polish Zuzanna Wielgos (16 points). Ioana Singeorzan ranked fourth (14 points), and Bianca Mei-Rosu took seventh place (13 points), according to the website of the Romanian Table Tennis Federation.
In the men's Under-19 category, the podium was entirely Romanian. Iulian Chirita took first place (17 points), followed by Eduard Ionescu (17 points) and Darius Movileanu (14 points). Dragos Bujor ranked sixth (13 points), and Andrei Istrate finished seventh (13 points).
Over the years, the Top 10 Europe at junior level was won by: Iulian Chirita, Bianca Mei-Rosu, Tania Plaian, Darius Movileanu, Elena Zaharia, Cristian Pletea, Adina Diaconu, Andreea Dragoman or Bernadette Szocs, with approximately 40 medals in total.
