EnergMin Burduja: Neptun Deep is a critical project, not only to Romania, but also to whole Europe
Neptun Deep is a critical project, not only to Romania, but also to whole Europe and it will mean independence from Russian gas, Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja said on Wednesday, told Agerpres.
"Neptun Deep is a critical project, not only to Romania, but to whole Europe. The situation in the Black Sea is not easy, so we rely on your help to make it a safe area. It is a USD 4 billion investment and I know that someone in Moscow is watching us and will do anything to delay or stop this project because it means independence from the Russian gas. I have to be frank. It's over a hundred or two hundred billion cubic metres and 10 billion cubic metres annually in the grid," Burduja told the second edition of the "US -Romania Economic Forum: Innovation for Prosperity," a side event of the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Business Forum.
He also pointed out that soon billions of euros will come for renewable energy projects, but that "we are helping China" by buying components for wind turbines and solar panels from there, so there is an enormous local market in this field .
Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism Radu Stefan Oprea, said in his turn that defence is one of the most dynamic sectors in Romania and that he had discussions with powerful US companies to develop new products in Romania, to provide power and stability in this region.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) organised on Wednesday the second edition of the US-Romania Economic Forum designed for the promotion of bilateral economic co-operation. In continuation of the 2022 edition that marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Strategic Partnership between the USA and Romania, this year's Forum agenda brings to the fore innovation as a pillar for prosperity and regional co-operation.
"The US-Romania Economic Forum: Innovation for Prosperity" is organised on the sidelines of the 3SI Business Forum taking place place in Bucharest, September 6-7, and is supported by the US Embassy in Bucharest, as a strategic partner, and by the Aspen Romania Institute.
Representatives of the US and Romanian central administrations, members of the AmCham Romania community and business leaders with an important presence in the Three Seas region participated in the conversation on strengthening transatlantic economic relationships by intensifying co-operation among the countries in the region, especially by adopting large-scale innovation .
