The European Salt Producers' Association (EUsalt) has expressed its willingness to send equipment and experts to Praid to help resolve the situation, Salrom director Constantin Dan Dobrea announced on Saturday.
"The European Salt Producers' Association has shown its solidarity and all the countries that have salt producers in Europe - they will send large pumps to help us in extracting the water from the ground, and more than that, we are looking for solutions because we will encounter another problem later: where will we discharge it? It is brine with a very high degree of saturation. We are looking for a solution of desalination plants that will probably also be obtained with the help of the European Salt Producers' Association, which have sent us both a message of solidarity and have expressed their willingness to help with everything possible in terms of equipment, people and experts to resolve the situation at Praid and help Salrom, who is a member of this association," Dobrea said.
He added that experts from the Babes-Bolyai University will also come to Praid, as well as international experts who will assess the situation of the overflooded salt mine, Agerpres informs.
The Salrom director informed that mine rescuers entered the underground to test the concentration of salt in the water.
"At this moment, the salinity of the water is around 160 grams per litre. (...) They only entered to take samples, because it is very dangerous to access the mine at this moment and we cannot endanger anyone's life. Only mining rescuers who know what risks they are exposed to and how to protect themselves from them have entered," Dobrea said.
