The pilgrimage on the occasion of the feast of St. Venerable Demetrius the New Protector of Bucharest began on Saturday with the worship of the Saint's relics, of the Holy Emperors Constantine and Elena and of the Holy Hierarch Nectarius and their placement in the canopy in the yard of the Patriarchal Cathedral.

The procession was led by the Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Paisie Sinait.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the faithful will be able to worship the Holy Relics, and then on Tuesday, October 24, starting at 12:00, the procession of the Way of the Saints will take place with the Holy Relics of Saint Demetrius the New, the Protector of Bucharest, of the Saints Emperors Constantine and Elena, of Saint Hierarch Nectarius. On Tuesday, at 1:00 p.m., at the Patriarchal Cathedral, the Holy Relics will be received by His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel at the Great Summer Altar.

The Holy Icons and the Holy Relics will then be placed for worship in the Canopy of the Saints on the Patriarch's Hill to be honored by the pilgrims.

This year, the right hand of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius, the Fountain of Myrrh, will be brought from Greece by the Metropolitan of Veria, Naousa and Campania, Pantelimon, to the pilgrimage to Saint Pious Demetrius the New, the Protector of Bucharest.

The holy relics of the Great Martyr Demetrius will arrive on Tuesday at noon and, after being carried in the Saints Way procession, they will be placed for veneration alongside the relics of Saint Demetrius the New and the oldest icon of the Holy Virgin, the Panaghia Soumela Icon of the Mother of God , and of the Icon of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius the Source of Myrrh, also brought from Greece.

The Holy Relics will be resettled in the Patriarchal Cathedral after the worship of the last pilgrim.
