Chairman of the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians (AUR) George Simion is the only candidate for a new term at the party's helm, as he has no contenders at the AUR Congress on November 30.
The AUR National Leading Bureau has decided to convene the party's National Congress on November 30, in Alba Iulia.
According to the AUR regulation, each of the candidates who want to register at the AUR Ordinary Congress in the internal competition for a leadership position (party Chair, as well as for other leadership bodies) must have at least 100 supporters, to which 20 lawmakers or MEPs should add.
According to an AUR release sent on October 24, in order to register for the competition, candidates must meet the following requirements: at least 24 months of party membership; to have their membership fee paid up to date; to submit, between October 25 and November 7, to the general secretariat a written statement regarding their candidacy, their CV and political program.
The signatory supporters (other than parliamentarians) must be from a minimum of 5 counties, with a maximum of 20 signatories from each county.
