The former government's solution to the Health sector's issues was to make a website where Romanians could complain about missing drugs or vaccines, forgetting however, to solve their grievances, Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu declared on Tuesday during the "International Health Forum" conference.

He stated that the Government is considering ways to encourage generic, low-cost medicines that are used by millions of Romanians daily.

"This Government and I personally, assume to solve the Romanians' problem to treatment access once and for all. We will not go and bring them medicine in backpacks nor will we always resort to the extreme solution of special purchases. But in order to succeed we need your help, the industry's help. We want you to join us, we would like us to listen to each other and find solutions. Let's listen to doctors and patients and understand their needs. We will only succeed if we work together. The former government's solution to the Health sector's problems was to create a site where Romanians could complain about missing medicines or vaccines, forgetting to solve their problems. If this is the solution to these problems, let's not be surprised that we are in this situation," the Premier specified.

According to him, three quarters of the medicines in Romania are cheap, generic, "those that are used in particular by poor people, chronic patients and old people."
