The Health Minister, Alexandru Rafila, recommends the population keep wearing the protection mask especially in enclosed spaces and adopt a cautious behaviour, saying that the recommendations of specialists must take primacy over debates about the constitutionality of a measure.
"I encourage you to keep wearing masks until I know surely that the situation in hospitals has reached normality and practically community transmission stops in Romania. It's a recommendation and I believe that the recommendation of specialists should be stronger in argumentation than the debates on the basis of a provision regarding to an ordinance and its constitutionality," said the Health Ministry, on Friday, in a press conference held in Calarasi (southeast of Bucharest).
Alexandru Rafila also said that the discussions regarding the constitutionality of an ordinance have no relation to public health, and cautious behaviour and mask wearing especially in enclosed spaces are measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The official also refused to mention a deadline regarding restriction relaxation and maintained that it is necessary to permanently integrate in the medical system those who've worked in hospitals during the state of alert.
Furthermore, Minister Rafila expressed surprise towards the way in which the National Investment Company (CNI) has managed to complete a 200-bed pavilion at the Calarasi Hospital, an investment worth 20 million euro.
The Health Minister has visited on Friday the Dr. Pompei Samarian Calarasi County Emergency Hospital. The medical unit has 571 beds for continuous hospitalization and treats patients with traumatic, surgical and cardiovascular emergencies from throughout the county.
